Pest Proofing

Our pest proofing and exclusion service seals the cracks, gaps, holes and crevices pests use to get into your home, closing the door on mice, rats, snakes and other nuisance wildlife before they ever make it inside. We inspect your property’s foundation, roofline, utility penetrations, doors, windows and vents to identify every potential entry point, then physically seal them using durable materials built to hold up outdoors.

Exclusion is the difference between a one-time treatment and lasting protection. Treating pests already inside your home solves today’s problem; sealing their entry points stops tomorrow’s.

Where Pests Actually Get In

Most homeowners look for a hole. Pests do not need one. A house mouse fits through a gap the width of a pencil, and a young rat needs less than an inch. On Gaston County homes, the entry points we find most often are:

  • Utility penetrations, where water lines, electrical, gas, cable and HVAC lineset enter the wall. Almost never sealed properly by the original builder.
  • Garage door sweeps and corners, the single most common rodent entry on an attached garage.
  • Crawl space vents and access doors, rusted screen, warped doors, missing covers.
  • Roofline gaps, where the soffit meets the fascia, and at gable vents. Primary route for squirrels and roof rats.
  • Sill plate and foundation joints, settling opens gaps that were tight when the house was built.
  • Dryer and bath exhaust vents, missing or broken dampers are an open door.
  • Weep holes and brick veneer gaps, sealed the wrong way, these trap moisture; sealed correctly, they stay ventilated and pest-proof.

Why Sealing Beats Spraying

Chemical treatment kills what is there now. It does nothing about the gap that let them in. That is why homeowners who treat and re-treat every season are usually paying to solve the same problem repeatedly, the population is being replaced as fast as it is removed.

Exclusion changes the math. Once an entry point is physically closed, it stays closed. On rodent work especially, sealing is the part that actually ends the problem; trapping without exclusion just creates a vacancy for the next one.

What a Pest Proofing Visit Looks Like

  1. Full exterior inspection. Foundation to roofline, all four sides, including the crawl space and attic where accessible.
  2. Entry point mapping. We show you what we found and where, so you can see it yourself rather than take our word for it.
  3. Sealing. Copper mesh, sealant, hardware cloth, flashing and door sweeps, the right material for each opening, chosen to last outdoors rather than look tidy for a season.
  4. Follow-up. On active rodent jobs we come back to confirm the activity has actually stopped.

Common Questions

Do I still need regular pest service if my home is sealed?

For insects, usually yes, ants and occasional invaders exploit openings too small to seal economically. For rodents and wildlife, good exclusion often replaces ongoing service entirely.

Can you seal a crawl space that already has rodents in it?

Not as the first step. Sealing an active population inside is the one mistake that makes things worse. We remove first, then seal, then verify.

Will sealing cause moisture problems?

Not when it is done correctly. Weep holes and vents exist for a reason. We close pest access while keeping the airflow the structure needs, which matters a great deal on Gaston County crawl spaces.

How long does it last?

Properly installed exclusion is a permanent repair, not a treatment. Materials are chosen to outlast the weather rather than the season.
